One BIG Trade Secret Ohio Cheese Makers Don’t Want You To Know (it’s listeria)

The peak of technology was RSS and Markdown.

I paid off the deffered portion of the electric bill from our old apartment just in time for AEP Ohio to raise the price higher than what I was paying for both over the last year. Especially shitty considering AEP just reported record profits.

Updated my Surface Go 2 to Debian 13 a few days ago. The resilience of this thing never ceases to amaze me. I bought it five years ago for a job, quit the job after six months and slapped Linux on it. It’s been my surprisingly capable daily driver ever since. Never underestimate the power of FOSS!

Screenshot of Apple Maps from iOS 26 Public Beta 2: there’s a persistent notification RIGHT ON TOP of the directions at the top of the screen.

This has been driving me INSANE since switching to iOS 26 beta. In older versions, you would get the notification once and you could disable it. No way to disable it in settings yet.

Hoping this is just a quirk of the beta. Really bad placement if you’re actually using gps.

Is it even a blog post if you haven’t edited it at least six times over multiple days after it’s already been published?

Switched from FreshRSS to CommaFeed a couple weeks ago, now I’m finally following @kev’s lead and trying out Miniflux. At first glance it looks pretty stripped down and basic, but it’s surprisingly powerful! Lots of integrations and options. Love to see the Linkding support. Favorite reader so far!

Auto-generated description: A laptop is adorned with various stickers, including ones that read CAT DAD, PUNKS NOT DEAD, linux inside, Indie Web is Punk, and PUNK ROCK SAVES LIVES.

Got my Indieweb is Punk sticker in the mail from @jim! Perfect addition to my humble little Surface Go 2.

I’m obsessed with this new throwback diet cherry Coke. I am such a sucker for marketing gimmicks like this.

I’m holding a white and red hand of retro style cherry Coke

The new episode of South Park did not hold back lmao 100% accurate depiction of Trump

Started playing Lunar: Eternal Blue for PS1. Arguably one of the best JRPG’s to come out of the 90’s; immersive anime cutscenes, a sassy pink flying cat who thinks she’s a baby dragon, and some spicy NPCs 😆

I had the best view in western Larpa. Now I live in a TENT down by the RIVER

I don’t normally buy games right at launch, especially remakes, but I couldn’t help it with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 & 4. Most of the ROMs I play are games I never even knew existed when I was younger, but this one is pure nostalgia for me. Best soundtrack ever.

Switched to CommaFeed for my RSS reader. FreshRSS started throwing these random SQL errors and the UI was too clunky for me anyway. CommaFeed has been around for a decade and it does everything I need. Super clean UI, feels like the spiritual successor to Google Reader, in the best possible way.

Pro tip of the day: medical tape works better than packing tape for concealing ripped khakis at work 🥴

I posted about ChatGPT psychosis a couple weeks ago. I’m starting to feel like Castlevania psychosis is a thing 😅

I’ve been playing nothing but ‘vanias for months. Faced as many impossible boss fights and dead ends as I can handle in 2D for a while. I need to play something from this decade now.

Me: I’m sick of paying $50 a year for Feedbin

Also me: I’ll host my own FreshRSS instance with a .media domain name that renews for $60 a year

I decided against starting a second blog. I was trying out Ghost because I thought it would be cool to have a site I could eventually monetize in some way, but I don’t wanna ruin something I do for fun. Might do more with WallChicken.net one day, but for now it’s a gif of Simon Belmont dead 🫡

I’ve been a diehard Tiny & Sumo theme user since I came to Micro.blog but I’ve gotta say, MNML is so rad! Super clean and easy to tweak the style. Bonus points for being built by a fellow punk rocker too lol thanks @jim!

So You Got Drunk and Bought Eight Domain Names You’ll Never Use — a self help book, by me

I’m getting this PikaPods/Ghost setup figured out after all. It took me a minute to grasp needing something like Mailgun to do automated emails for logins, etc but it makes sense. I’m not doing too bad for my first time deploying a fancy web app instead of using some old school host with cpanel!

The more I explore self hosting, the more I appreciate how easy it is to use Micro.blog 🫣

Tonight, we’re drinking Writers' Tears 🍻

I’m holding a bottle of Writers Tears branded Irish whiskey.

UFO whistleblowers at the congressional hearing when asked what evidence they have, who’s piloting the crafts and where they were spotted:

There’s nothing like the calm after you finally address the thing you’ve been stressing over all day.

Yooo Digg.com TestFlight just launched! I didn’t think it would be here so soon! 🤩🪏

An app installation screen for Digg (Alpha) shows details such as the developer, days in existence, version, and testing instructions.A social media post discusses iOS TestFlight invites for Digg, inviting users to help test the app, with several comments and reactions visible.A menu from a mobile app displays options like Leaderboards, Saved Posts, Create a Community, Extensions, Settings, and Log out, along with additional sections at the bottom.A Facebook post features two technology-related articles, one about Digg iOS TestFlight invites and the other about Apple's iOS 26 update for CarPlay video streaming.

It feels like Christmas in June. I never thought I’d be using Digg.com as a mobile app in 2025!

I’ve been test driving Overcast for the last few days. Apple Podcasts is too cluttered for my taste but going full RSS feels too stripped down. I honestly love the way they do advertising on the free version—they just showcase podcasts at the bottom instead of normal ads. Really liking it so far!

I love thebackgroundnpc’s take on this. Nintendo is the Disney of gaming—they feel so cozy at the surface but then you realize their business model is capitalizing on nostalgia without bringing anything new to the table. They’re just selling us the same stuff over and over again at higher prices.

I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a separate blog for retro gaming stuff but I think that would take away from my personal blog here. I like having everything mixed together in one chaotic place.

Bought a couple giant Madagascar hissing cockroaches for my tarantula. He didn’t really like them and one was way too big to feed him anyway, so I’m keeping that one as a pet. These things can live up to seven five years! 🪳

Girlfriend is not happy. Will probably post pics…eventually!
