Average millennial living life on the edge (of the Midwest). Probably too immature for Micro.blog but I like it here.
Digital clutter
A messy home can really bring my mood down. I always feel a lot better when the floors are vacuumed and mopped and there isn’t a bunch of junk all over the table.
I feel the same way about my digital life. It almost gives me a stroke when I see someone with five or six home screens packed edge to edge with apps. Especially junk apps they installed to use one time and just left them there like some kind of barbarian.
My OCD is probably mostly to blame but I delete unused apps, bookmarks and other junk like that regularly. Broken RSS feeds, an overflowing inbox or even a full trash bin is enough to drive me nuts. I clean up my file system and iCloud Drive every couple of weeks. I just cleaned house on social media a couple days ago even. I felt like I was on too many social networks so I cut everything out but Bluesky and Micro.blog.
It feels a lot like spring cleaning. All the eyesores are gone and you’re left with a tidy space to move through freely. Do you hoard useless data or are you as obnoxious as I am about keeping it in shape?
